Fundraising and Development Volunteer
Location: New York, NY – Times Square Job
Type: 3-month unpaid volunteer position, full time
Start Date: ASAP
Job Description: The Fundraising and Development Volunteer will be a critical member of the team in charge of raising funds for Grameen America to open new branches across the U.S., to increase our loan-making capabilities at existing branches, and to support the organization’s general operating expenses. The Fundraising and Development Volunteer will not only identify and assess new opportunities as well as maintain current relationships, but will also be a point of contact with donors and organizations that provide funds to Grameen America.
Job Responsibilities:
• Research, apply, and follow up with funding opportunities through foundations, corporations, and individual donors
• Work closely with senior management and fundraising team to maintain and develop donor relationships
• Further develop and refine Grameen America’s internal fundraising and development process
• Develop and execute strategies to fundraise at a grassroots level
Ideal candidate
• Master’s or professional degree (MA, MBA, JD). Professional experience in for-profit space (new business development,
consulting, or capital markets/private placement in investment bank) a plus
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); familiarity and comfort with social media a strong plus
• Great team player: ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with people of other cultures, capacities,
and organizations
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Superior organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal and speaking skills; ability to liase with other areas both within and outside of the organization
effectively and efficiently
• Willingness to learn
