15 Nonprofits to Receive Pro Bono Advice from Morgan Stanley’s Strategy Challenge
Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) announced today that the following 15 nonprofit organizations will participate in the fourth annual Strategy Challenge, a signature skills-based volunteering program providing nonprofits with pro bono strategic consulting. The Strategy Challenge, Morgan Stanley’s signature skills-based volunteer program, pairs teams of employees with leading nonprofits to provide strategic consulting.

Grameen America Partners with Whole Planet Foundation on Annual Prosperity Campaign at Whole Foods Market Stores Nationwide
Grameen America, a microfinance organization founded by Nobel Prize recipient Professor Muhammad Yunus, today announced it has partnered with Whole Planet Foundation, a nonprofit established by Whole Foods Market to fund poverty alleviation through microcredit in communities worldwide. To date, Whole Planet Foundation has committed $850,000 to Grameen America to help the microlender fund small business loans for borrowers living below the poverty line in the U.S. The foundation has pledged an additional $250,000 for each new market where Grameen America expands.

Grameen America Celebrates Grand Opening of Bronx Branch
Grameen America (www.grameenamerica.org), a not-for-profit microfinance organization founded by Professor Muhammad Yunus, celebrated the Grand Opening of its Bronx branch on Monday September 26th. The ceremony took place at The Bronx Museum of the Arts and featured remarks by Professor Muhammad Yunus, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize and founder of the Grameen Bank and Bob Annibale, Citi Global Director of Microfinance & Community Development.

Grameen America Celebrates over 6,500 Borrowers
Grameen America (www.grameenamerica.org), a not-for-profit microfinance organization, celebrated its 6,500th borrower with a loan disbursed by founder, Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus. Professor Yunus was joined by Grameen America Board member, Sila Calderón. Approaching its fourth year in operation in the United States, Grameen America has disbursed over $21MM in microloans averaging less than $2,000 each.

Robin Hood Supports Grameen America in New York City
New York, NY (April 13, 2011) – Grameen America, a domestic microfinance institution, today announces a $2 Million grant from The Robin Hood Foundation to support loan capital and a portion of operating expenses for their New York City operations. Chevron to Provide $1 Million to Help Bring Grameen America to Bay Area
In an effort to support broad-based economic development in California, Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) has committed $1 million to Grameen America, an innovative microfinance organization founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Muhammad Yunus. The funds will support the launch of Grameen America’s first West Coast branch in the San Francisco Bay Area by funding Grameen America’s operational costs.

Grameen America and Citi Partner to Open More than 2,500 Savings Accounts for Low-Income Entrepreneurs
Grameen America, a not-for-profit microfinance organization headquartered in New York, and Citi Microfinance, part of Citigroup, today announced that Grameen America borrowers have opened more than 2,500 savings accounts at Citibank branches in Upper Manhattan and Queens.
The accounts are the result of an innovative partnership that began in 2008 between the two organizations to provide low-income entrepreneurs in the U.S. with savings accounts from Citi to complement microloans from Grameen America. Grameen America members can use their Citi savings accounts to build their assets as well as access mainstream financial services, such as ATM networks.

Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Supports Expansion of Grameen America to North Carolina
Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation today announces a two-year $450,000 grant to Grameen America to expand its operations in low-income communities in North Carolina. The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation grant will help spur entrepreneurship for local entrepreneurs, enabling them to start or expand a business. Still in the fundraising stage in Charlotte, Grameen America will use this generous grant to draw in additional funders to help launch operations in North Carolina.
